HOW
To AMI, every client is special and every assignment is unique. And so is our advice. We have fresh and imaginative views on organizational issues.
Our extensive experience has led to a typical AMI way of working: our AMI DNA (see AMI DNA) This effectively connects project, process and strategy to accomplish change by mobilizing and developing people’s talents.
AMI consultants employ a variety of tried and tested instruments while they draw from a comprehensive pool of experience, skills and knowledge within the AMI community. This social repository of knowledge is our main capital in which we continuously invest, through exploration, publication, cooperation, learning and an attitude of constructive curiosity.
To us, the role of a consultant extends beyond giving advice. We consciously connect our advice to implementation. This means we coach, support and train wherever necessary in every stage of the project or program. Ongoing, immediate and practical, aimed at delivering our mutually agreed objectives and results. Every advice must result in real change or improvement.
We coach individuals and teams to increase their impact. We create, support and sustain movement in organizations. We make things happen. Coaching-on-the job is applied in all programs where individuals and teams make a decisive difference. We make sure existing talents, competences and skills are developed and effectively brought to bear, through the use of small assignments and experiments with new behavior, through regular reflection and through direct feedback on experiences, AMI coaches foster the practical application of lessons learned in our workshops. We follow and strengthen clients' unique talents and their proper application in the interest of themselves and their organizations. Our approach is ecological in that we explicitly involve an internal mentor and the direct report of the coachee in the coaching process. This speeds up learning and application.
We coach in groups and individually, on site and at a distance through face-to-face contact, telephone, e-mail and Internet (video-interaction).
Coaching is effective for professionals who want (and dare...!) to explore, challenge and change their ways of thinking and working, who want to gain impact and effectiveness in managing teams, projects and initiatives. The AMI coach fosters and supports this development by following our successful recipe. This includes an extensive personal exploration leading to a plan outlining the specific development goals and intended change strategy. Intensive conversations deepen learning and discovery. Coachees take responsibility by engaging in assignments and concrete experiments along the way. Progress on objectives is monitored on an on-going basis. We always enlist the commitment and involvement of the employing organization and regularly ‘touch base’ to discuss progress.
All AMI programs and trainings are CEDEO certified. All AMI consultants combine coaching with training and advisory roles.
We help people improve themselves. We train through exercise and experiment to develop competences and skills. Training is a core aspect of every program we offer. We train skills like delegation, work coordination, confrontation, giving and receiving feedback, setting priorities, professional conduct, time management, core quality recognition and – mobilization.
We create a close correspondence between training and the application of newly learned behavior in the daily work context. We facilitate this transfer through coaching, thus forging a strong link between personal and organizational growth.

People form the heart of every organization. Personal development is a precondition for growth and renewal.
AMI supports organizations with customized management development programs for project management, leadership and young potentials. These programs offer a flexible answer to the need for continuous personal and organizational growth.
A recurrent element in our programs is intervision: an important instrument to help professionals have critical conversations that enable a non-threatening exchange of advice, experience and lessons learned. This builds the organizations’ learning attitude and capability.
We teach members to organize their own learning- and intervision structure and we help make it work. AMI embraces important key positive principles from action learning, story-telling and appreciative inquiry to foster an organization’s capability to learn, innovate and renew. We help you record learning experiences to deepen understanding and spread the insights organization-wide.
This enables us to develop an appropriate, well-fit approach. An approach that matches your problem, your ambition and your culture. To create the optimal conditions for success.
Our experience spans multiple industries. We work with both commercial and government organizations, both small firms and large multinationals. This wide range enables us to connect easily and to find out together with our clients what approach would fit their situation best. Customization is our preferred and natural way of operating.
A simulation is a powerful implementation tool to test new competencies, skills or ways of working. A work process or situation is meticulously re-enacted, including the interactions between key stakeholders. Close supervison and feedback ensure substantial and time-efficient learning about work processes, roles, individual behavior and competenties.
AMI has developed various simulations for clients around:
• project management
• consulting skills
• integrity and ethical awareness
AMI has found a professional partner in Ranj (www.ranj.nl) to apply serious gaming in management development and organizational change programs. An example is Shark World, a multiple-award winning game around project management (see http://www.sharkworld.nl )
